special mention | As Tokugawa Shogunate was established in Edo in 1603 and many samurai warriors came to live there, swordsmiths also gathered in Edo as if they were following samurai warriors, which led to flowering
of what is called Kanbun Shinto. This piece of work has typical shape of Kanbun Shinto which is slightly curved and is different in breadth between the base and the tip. Its Jigane is finely dense and shows strong Kane. The pattern of blade is Ko-notare and Gunome with thick Nie. This is a creditable super piece of Yamatonokami YASUSADA who had great impact on various subcultures of swordsmith in Edo in early period of Kanbun Shinto and won the great confidence of many samurai as well. |
